52 Blocks from the prisons to the streets

I first heard of the 52 Blocks or 52 Hand Blocks from the defensive tactics guru at work. He showed me some clips on YouTube and said that 52 Blocks was some sort of urban fighting style originating from the prisons. At the time it was difficult to find information on the system and I placed 52 Blocks into my “Urban Myth” file. Now, there seems to be several high quality DVD’s and more information has come out on the 52 Blocks system so it must be gaining popularity. The system seems to be an eclectic mix of Western Boxing, Eastern Arts, and uses elbow blocks similar to the Filipino Boxing. Here is a clip from YouTube as a introduction to 52 Blocks.
